The Amur Falcon conservation project of Manipur State Forest Department has been witnessing success stories. One of the Amur Falcon was satellite-tagged last year & named Chiulan. The bird traveled to Somalia & Africa & is providing us information on flying patterns of these birds.
A A female Amur Falcon Bird named “Longleng” was satellite-tagged at Nagaland in November, 2016 under the project funded by MoEFCC. Longleng which visited Somalia in Africa has now returned to India on its way back to Amur regions of China.
This is the third consecutive year the bird has taken the same route. The tracking of Longleng movement is creating awareness about its flying patterns, migratory routes, habitat etc.
